Transformers movie release date announced

Transformers movie release date announced

It was already known that a live action Transformers movie is in the works, and that Spielberg is attached to the project, but this was all to happen in the vague, distant future. Well, today's announcement sets the date as July 4th, 2007, which Dreamworks should be able to adhere to (unless the company gets scared off by a Fantastic Four sequel or the like). I keep saying this is begging to be an RPG, especially with Hasbro owning both WotC and the Transformers property. If someone could craft said theoretical game with the feel of classic Battletech combined with Cartoon Action Hour, they might have a hit. Loads of full color screenshots from the movie, hardcover rulebook, the works. Of course, things could go the other way as well, and we could have another D&D movie calamity on our hands.

RPG? That's up to Hasbro but they'd rather WotC do the licensed TCG.

I dunno. If they handle a Transformers TCG or RPG like the GI Joe one, it won't pan out.

I honestly don't think we need _another_ Anime/Cartoon influenced CCG. The market is flooded as it is....

The encouraging thing about this is that they've singled out July 4th for its release. You don't announce something for that date unless you're pumping some serious cash into it.

Lets hope that we get something spectacular (and I mean in a good way)

I don't need a Transformers RPG. I've already got Metal Wars for Cartoon Action Hour.

To be fair I just do not care about The Transformers, a silly cartoon designed to sell plastic tat and little more. That said, Metal Wars for Cartoon Action Hour is excellent.

Yeah, I don't see what we have to gain from licensed RPGs at this point... unless they break the RPG-system mold in a big, big way.

Gee, if only Decipher could do that and give new life to their lesser known RPG department.

"Gee, if only Decipher could do that and give new life to their lesser known RPG department."

What RPG department? ;) They havent released anything in over a year, and many distributors are convinced they wont make it through another year as a company....How this company managed to screw up two huge liscensed properties like that still baffles me. And let's not even talk about WARS....

The RPG department that is releasing The Helms Deep Sourcebook this month. As to the Star Trek license, well that appears to be on hold whilst Paramount is deciding what to do with the Star Trek property.

Pookie, we have been solicited the helms deep book 3 times now, over a period of 7 months. I will believe it when I see it....was it at Origins? If so, i will retract my statement, if it wasn't at Origins...weird

Anyhoo...

I see some good in licensing as well as some bad. Good in that it gave a lesser known company WEG to roll with the big boys (then-TSR, SJG, Palladium) for a while. And no matter what kind of Buffy clones out there (like d20 Modern's SHADOW CHASERS) nothing beats the Buffy/Angel brands. And let's not talk about the Pokemon boost in TCG hobby.
